Apple Macintosh SE – External HD 20SC, Keyboard & Mouse, Bonus SCSI Drive, As-Is
The Macintosh SE was Apple's workhorse compact Mac through the late 80s, and this bundle brings a lot to the table for a collector or tinkerer: the SE itself (factory-configured per its rear label as a 1MB RAM / 800K floppy / 20SC hard disk model), a matching external Apple HD 20SC drive enclosure, and a bonus loose Conner CP3000 hard drive mechanism thrown in — plus its correct Apple Extended Keyboard II and ADB mouse.
We want to be straightforward about testing: the SE powers on and the CRT displays video, but boot results were inconsistent across our attempts. At different points we saw the "no startup disk" floppy icon, an actual error dialog reading "The 'System' file on this startup disk may be damaged. The Installer can be used to repair this disk," and — on what appears to be a later attempt — the "Welcome to Macintosh" startup screen. We did not capture it reaching a fully loaded Finder desktop. This is a real, honest as-is listing, not a plug-and-play tested unit: expect to spend some time with System software, floppy disks, or the Installer to get it running reliably.
What's Included
- Apple Macintosh SE system unit (Model M5011, labeled 1MB RAM / 800K Drive / 20SC Hard Disk)
- Apple Extended Keyboard II (Family Number M3501, ADB)
- Apple ADB Mouse (Model A9M0331)
- External Apple HD 20SC drive enclosure — its own label identifies a Seagate ST225N drive inside running Mac OS 6.0.5, cabled and ready to connect via SCSI
- Bonus: a loose Conner CP3000 SCSI hard drive mechanism, included as a spare/parts drive — not installed in an enclosure and not tested
Condition Notes
- Powers on and the CRT displays video. Boot testing gave inconsistent results across attempts — see the description above and the actual screen-by-screen photos (no-startup-disk icon, a "System file may be damaged" error, and a later "Welcome to Macintosh" splash). No photo confirms reaching a working Finder desktop, so this is sold as-is rather than "tested & working."
- The external Apple HD 20SC enclosure's label claims a Seagate ST225N drive inside formatted with Mac OS 6.0.5, but its reliability wasn't independently confirmed beyond the mixed boot results noted above.
- The bonus Conner CP3000 drive mechanism was not tested — it's included as a spare/parts drive, not a guaranteed-working extra.
- The case shows light cosmetic wear typical of the age: a few faint scuffs and a couple of lighter cleaned/touched-up patches visible on the case exterior in photos, plus the warm yellowing typical of vintage Apple beige plastic.
- The keyboard shows yellowing consistent with age, a very common trait on vintage Apple ADB keyboards.
- The mouse underside shows some grime and discoloration around the trackball housing — cosmetic; the mouse wasn't separately function-tested.
- No cracks, missing keys, or broken latches noted on any component.
A genuinely interesting bundle for someone who enjoys compact-Mac troubleshooting: a correct-period SE, its matching external SCSI drive, a bonus spare hard drive, and the right keyboard and mouse to go with it — priced and described as-is to reflect the real testing we saw, not an idealized one.
Ships securely double-boxed with foam padding; console, external drive, keyboard, mouse, and bonus drive packed separately. Buyer message before combining shipping with another item.
